Card Sorting
Card sorting is a physical demonstration of the pages of the application that exemplify its structure. Content is grouped together and organized to determine flow for user navigation. It is advantageous as it enables users to move sticky notes around in order to discern the best flow of the pages and to better accommodate long term user goals. It also creates an opportunity to solicit feedback about the arrangement in order to provide users with a product that best suits their needs.
Three participants were provided with an online survey to determine if they were able to sort the application’s pages into the categories as organized above. The users participated in this process authentically and were unaware of the desired criteria. They were encouraged to sort the pages based on their own perceptions of what made sense to them. The results are depicted below.
